Quickstart & Installation

Nexa AI is packaged as a native macOS application bundle supporting both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel x86 processors.

Installation Steps:

  1. Download the latest .dmg installer from the Nexa AI landing page.
  2. Open the .dmg package and drag Nexa AI.app into your /Applications directory.
  3. Launch Nexa AI. On first launch, macOS will request permission for Accessibility and Screen Recording (required to position translucent overlay windows over video calls).
  4. Navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and enable Nexa AI.

Complete Uninstall:

To remove Nexa AI, its local data, and its macOS privacy entries:

  1. Quit Nexa AI completely.
  2. Move Nexa AI.app from /Applications to the Trash.
  3. Delete the local configuration, credentials, license, and history data:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/nexa-ai-config"

Then reset Nexa AI's macOS privacy permissions in Terminal:

tccutil reset All com.nexa.ai

Empty the Trash afterward. If Nexa AI still appears under Privacy & Security, quit and reopen System Settings, then log out and back in or restart your Mac.

Audio Loopback Setup

Nexa AI captures system audio directly using macOS SystemAudioDump APIs without interfering with your microphone input or speaker playback.

Features:

  • Zero Feedback: Reads direct digital PCM streams from CoreAudio output.
  • Multi-Channel Audio: Captures interviewer sound from Google Meet, Zoom, MS Teams, and Slack Huddles seamlessly.
  • Local Processing: Speech-to-text transcription buffers run locally in encrypted memory.

Control overlay visibility, window opacity, and click transparency using global keyboard shortcuts:

Alt + ◀ / ▶ / ▲ / ▼ : Adjust overlay window position
Cmd + M : Toggle Click-Through Mode (Pass clicks to underlying apps)
Cmd + \ : Stealth Hide / Show Overlay Window
Cmd + Shift + R : Reset Overlay to Top-Right Anchor

Stealth Driver Security

Nexa AI operates using Ring-3 kernel OS window isolation. It does not inject JavaScript hooks into Chrome DOM or browser sandboxes, preventing online assessment tools (HackerRank, CodeSignal, Codility) from detecting window focus loss or clipboard activity.

Troubleshooting

If the overlay window does not appear during video calls:

  • Verify accessibility permissions in macOS System Settings.
  • Press Cmd + \ to ensure the overlay isn't in hidden mode.
  • Ensure no conflicting third-party audio capture drivers are blocking CoreAudio loopback.
